"SPEED" MUST RUN IN HER BLOOD
After trying out all kinds of different sports Tamara Lunger, born in 1986, ultimately came to the conclusion that what she really liked was strenuous exercise over long distances.
Not just the kind of sports for which you have to be 100% fit, the kind of sports for which you have to be 120% fit. Although she was brought up in the Eggental Valley in South Tyrol, she never learnt to ski as a child. Nevertheless, that didn’t stop her dreaming and by 2008 she was ski mountaineering world champion. Running had also always been a favourite pastime, despite the fact that she has been plagued by severe knee pain. In 2013 she at last felt well enough to run again. After a moderate amount of training, partnering with Annemarie Gross, she came second in the GORE-TEX® TRANSALPINE RUN.
However, there was still one more dream to pursue: since she was 15 she had wanted to climb one of the world’s 8000m peaks. This dream was achieved in 2010 when, at the age of 23, she became the youngest woman to reach the summit of Lhotse (8516m). Whether she is competing in sporting events or on a longer climbing expedition, Tamara Lunger’s approach is always the same: light & fast - and she always gives 120% to whatever she does.
Seeing as I have a passion for moving as fast as I can in mountain environments, regardless of whether I’m ski touring, doing a fast alpine ascent or trail running, lightweight and breathable GORE-TEX® Active Products are always a valuable addition to my gear, helping me achieve the very best level of performance. In 2011 I got caught in extremely challenging conditions at the summit of Khan Tengri, at 7010m. All went well. GORE-TEX® Active Products feel like a second skin. They are comfortable and easy to wear. I can depend on them: 120%. My GORE-TEX®. My nature. My home.
