Winter 2017 is finally here, and the Alps are wearing the white dress we have longed for. We want to take a short break however from the hunt for fresh powder and take a look back at a really special trip in 2016: Last spring, GORE-TEX athletes Greg Hill, Seb Michaud and Nico Zacek headed out for a ski tour north of the polar circle. Today’s throwback will take you along to Lofoten in Norway.

Mountains that rise seemingly directly out of the ocean, that is what makes Lofoten so unique.
    Our crew in pleasant anticipation.

    So many possibilities…
    … to find powder!
Nico Zacek can’t quite grasp his good luck.
    Neither can Seb or Basti.
Everywhere you look, in any direction, makes another impression.
Climbing to the next peak, to the next slope of untouched powder.
By the way, other than us, we seldom came across any other ski tourers.
Nico, dropping in directly from the summit.
Seb Michaud took the opportunity to jump from the highest cliff of the trip.
FYI: This photo was taken at 8:30 p.m. local time, made possible by the polar circle!
The next day starts with a few waves…
    Surfing in the Arctic Ocean.
And again: solitude, quiet and unforgettable nature.
Greg Hill, happy ski mountaineer, today out with a board.
Nico Zacek: “To ski and to surf on Lofoten was always one of my biggest dreams!”
    From the beach…
    …to the next turn!
Literally: “Ski and surf the same day!“
One could ski all the way to the ocean!

Sailing in to one of the innumerable fjords of Lofoten.
Seb Michaud has his eye on the next line.
    The last run.
Greg, wistful - Lofoten, we’ll see you again!

    You want more impressions?
