Powder Alarm with GORE-TEX Talent Asbjørn
Norrøna athlete Asbjørn Eggebø Næss is unbelievably lucky to have grown up in one of the most special places on Earth: in Romsdalen, a valley in western Norway. "If you live here and don't use the mountains, then you might as well live somewhere else," he says pretty bluntly. His enthusiasm for where he's from and his passion for darting down snow-covered slopes resonates in his every sentence.
Asbjørns favorite spot: untouched tracks in the snow
The Norwegian averages around 100 days on the slopes every season; and not least thanks to his work with Norrøna, he's been putting his trust in GORE-TEX technology for a long time now. So for us, it really made sense to recruit Asbjørn for our Tryout in Scandinavia. He's simply a great fit for the GORE-TEX brand. The idea of doing a completely different kind of ski trip came from Asbjørn himself. Of course that would have been boring on his own, so he took along his best skiing buddy Nikolai Schirmer, a fellow Norrøna athlete.
GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ stretched to the limits
So Asbjørn and his friend Nikolai set out for Trollstigen, a mountain pass popular with tourists that leads from Romsdalsfjord to Norddalsfjord, winding and twisting its way nearly 2,000 feet up to the top of the pass. The two adrenaline junkies really broke a sweat on the ascent: First on bikes while the road was closed to traffic, and then again on foot with their skis on their backs. Asbjørn's motto is to keep it all a bit playful and approach things differently than other people would. That shouldn't be all too difficult for this father of two. Less talk, more action. And whenever he says something, he's got a quotable soundbite in store. And by the way, if you don't find him on a pair of skis, you'll run into him on his bike, or while climbing, or on a surfboard. We're definitely looking forward to whatever's in store next with someone as enthusiastic, funny and acrobatic as Asbjørn.
