Quality Testing

All GORE-TEX® glove styles are put through a variety of intense tests. If at any point they don't hold up to the high GORE-TEX® product standards, they are sent back to the drawing board.

  • Whole-Glove Breathability Test

    This test pumps hot steam through the glove, which is weighed before and after the test. The breathability is measured by calculating how much vapour has escaped.

  • Spray Test

    This test measures the water resistance of the outer material. The fewer water droplets that stick to the fabric the better, since poorly impregnated fabrics soak up water, become heavy, and cause heat loss.

  • Liner Retention Test

    This test ensures that the lining and finger inserts are securely affixed to the shell of the glove so they don't get pulled out when the glove is taken off. The minimum retention force is 5 lbs.

  • Whole Glove Leak Test

    This non-destructive test employs pressurized air to test the waterproofness of the glove under a pressure of 2 psi over 5 seconds. Air bubbles in the water reliably indicate any leakage.
