From competition climber to alpine pioneer

David Lama

The exceptional climbing talents of David Lama were spotted by veteran climber Peter Habeler when he was only 5 years old.

He was born in 1990 to an Austrian mother and a Nepalese mountain guide. After thirteen years in competition climbing he directed his focus towards alpine adventures and climbing expeditions. He has since achieved many of his dreams with his accomplishments including a free ascent of the Sagwand, first ascents in Yosemite National Park and the first free ascent of the south east ridge of the Cerro Torre.
I have been wearing GORE-TEX® garments since I was a child. So you could say that I had a personal relationship with the brand long before I started partnering with Gore. Gore products can be used for all kinds of outdoor activities. Especially now that I have started doing so much alpine climbing, I believe it’s the only hardshell jacket worth considering. What I really like about the new GORE-TEX® Pro is that thanks to its improved breathability you can wear it on top of or under any kind insulating layer.David Lama
